For a year now, WWE was banking on The Big Show and Shaq battling it out at WrestleMania. Unfortunately, no one actually got the NBA Hall of Famer to sign on for the night. You would think they’d have taken care of that little detail months in advance. It felt very TNA-like of them.

In an incredibly anti-climactic announcement, on the 13 March episode of Raw, Big Show was revealed to be in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal once again. Meh.

Had they realised Shaq wasn’t going to be wrestling a few months ago, they could have built Braun Strowman vs. Big Show for 'Mania. It would have been a big man’s match that wouldn’t have sucked, because as we saw in their bout on Raw, they actually work pretty well together. Now imagine that fight going down at the biggest show of the year, and the spectacle becomes that much bigger. It would have been remembered for years as a big man classic.

It was still a memorable bout, but some forward planning and more time to build could have made it feel like a true passing of the torch moment from one giant to the next.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
