10 Reasons WWE Are Inducting Sting Into The Hall Of Fame

8. 1990 Battle Against Ric Flair Is Legendary

During recent live Q&A sessions in the UK, Sting seemed horrified when thinking that one of his most famous moments happened over 25 years ago. At The Great American Bash pay-per-view in 1990, Sting faced Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. It was the culmination of a lengthy storyline, during which a knee injury had forced the bout to be put on the backburner for a spell. At The Bash, fans were in raptures when Sting caught Flair in a small package pinning predicament. The move was especially satisfying, because the 'Nature Boy' had been going for his patented Figure Four Leg Lock hold. Overall, the match lasted just over 15 minutes in length. That doesn't seem like a long time, but the action was wholly enjoyable and sent the fans home happy. Sting and Flair would have many other battles over the years, and had even had matches against one another before The Great American Bash. Despite this, people often recall this match in particular from 1990 as one of Sting's finest hours. It's hard to argue with that point, he was made to look like the man by Flair and came out of the bout looking like a worthy champion.
