10 Reasons WWE Champion John Cena Must Lose To Brock Lesnar At SummerSlam

1. WWE Can Create Their Next Megastar For The Future

Realistically, that picture could be of Dean Ambrose. It could be of Cesaro. It could be of Dolph Ziggler. It could be of Seth Rollins. Roman Reigns is just one example, but the one that probably seems the most likely. Yes, WWE is likely to try and have Cena try to "conquer the dragon" if he loses the title to Lesnar, having him aim to win his belt back. However, it would behoove the company to think more long-term here. They have set themselves up with a situation where the person who eventually dethrones Brock (think WrestleMania 31) becomes the next megastar "made man" to help carry the company into the next "era". Cena will be a few weeks shy of his 38th birthday when WrestleMania 31 rolls around, and with as many miles as he has logged, and with as much stress as he has put on his body through the years, you know he won't be around forever. This is the best possible time for the company to search for his successor, even if it means finding multiple people to fill the role. Reigns, Ambrose, and Rollins will all be under the age of 30 at WrestleMania, making them the prime candidates for this role. Cesaro is another popular choice, but he'll be 34 before 2014 is over, so he has less time to work with. Same goes for Ziggler, who just turned 34 a couple weeks ago. The one scenario that many are forgetting is Daniel Bryan. Yes, he isn't as young as, say, Seth Rollins, but he has already established himself as "the people's champion" of this era, especially with CM Punk gone. He's insanely over, he sells a bunch of merchandise, he's one of the hardest working people on the roster, he doesn't carry the risks that others might carry (drugs, alcohol, domestic violence, etc), and he's a fantastic wrestler... what more could you ask for in a top guy? With rumors that WWE is preparing to spend the rest of 2014 with Bryan on the shelf, a triumphant return to win the 2015 Royal Rumble seems like an easy moment to write, doesn't it? If Lesnar disposes of his next feud or two, or even beats Cena in their "rubber match" at the Rumble, what's wrong with Lesnar VS Bryan for the title at WrestleMania? It's the match we were supposed to get at SummerSlam, albeit with Bryan coming in as the champion, but it simply makes sense. If done right, Lesnar winning the title at SummerSlam and going on a run with it could be beneficial to the short-term and long-term health of the company. If they can come out of his title reign with the honest and for true successor to John Cena, it should be considered a huge victory.
