5. Trashing Colleagues In The Media
Here is a prime example of Orton's special treatment, because most other WWE employees would be punished if not released for this behaviour. In 2011, Orton was a guest on the 98 KUPD radio show out of Arizona. The audio clip has since been removed from the internet (how telling) but the "lowlights" are detailed
here in Camel Clutch Blog. Basically, Orton implied that Kelly Kelly (one of WWE's most highly-featured Divas) slept around with a lot of other wrestlers. True or not, he also implied that it's something unsavoury to joke about, and continued to do so throughout the show. Can you imagine if someone did this while working for a company other than WWE (a public company, at that)? There would be more than tweeted apologies the next day, and life going on as usual. There's no way to quantify or rectify the damage to Kelly's reputation, and I'm sure it served to amplify any criticism she was already getting from the fan community. No one deserves to be insulted like that, and when you consider that it happened at the hands of a colleague in a public forum? Disgusting. And yet Orton recovered from a PR standpoint, because he was not punished as he deserved.
