10. His Gear
WWE.comWho would have ever thought a guy could be hated for his T-Shirt? But that is exactly where John Cena is and where he's been, for much of the past 10 years. It seems like a very silly notion, a somewhat cheap shot at a guy that is obviously working hard to entertain every time he's on camera. But the fact is John Cena does not look like a professional wrestler and that has been a point of contention among WWE fans from practically the beginning of his career. Cena's gear was heavily criticized by The Rock back in 2012 when they were building toward their match at WrestleMania 28. Rocky took one jab after another at John, critiquing everything from his hat to his arm bands to his denim shorts. The Rock vocalized everything negative about John's gear that fans had been complaining about for a long time, including his multicolored tees that he compared to Fruity Pebbles. What was the point to all of that? Simple; Cena looks like a 12 year old kid. And Rocky was the first one to really talk about it. But since then nothing has changed at all. And instead of doing something different or perhaps encouraging Cena to adopt a new look, WWE took advantage of the hype around Rocky's comments. Before long, Cena was featured on Fruity Pebbles boxes and commercials. And meanwhile WWE fans were left shaking their heads at the insanity of it all. Why is Vince McMahon's top paid and most successful star still dressing like he's parking cars instead of collecting them? It makes very little sense and at this point, fans are truly sick of it.
