10 Reasons WWE Fans Will FINALLY Accept Roman Reigns

5. The Distant Future Is Harder To Predict

Roman Reigns Old School Title
WWE

The Wrestling Observer broke the main of WrestleMania 34 a full year in advance of it. The events of WrestleMania 33 all but foreshadowed the grand finale in New Orleans. Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar are the 2 in 23-2. Reigns will conquer the Conqueror to prove that he is the #1 star in all of sports entertainment.

This inevitability did much much to sour fans on the wider product of 2017. Fans were forced to create their own resistant reading of the Universal Title picture, focusing not on the results of Brock Lesnar's matches but rather the extent to which his opponents may benefit from wrestling him. Fans want to watch a product that is consequential - but the only consequence indirectly benefitted Roman. Lesnar despatched Samoa Joe in just six minutes at Great Balls Of Fire. At No Mercy, Braun Strowman lasted just three minutes more. His finisher, used unsuccessfully twice, was rendered ineffective; Lesnar thwarted the Monster with just one F5 to become an indestructible force built for Roman to destroy. Less a push, more an all-out assault in which the roster became collateral damage, Roman's Universal Title win is the last domino to fall.

The outlook for the remainder of 2018 remains unknown. There is scope to invest in the rebuilding process without a searing layer of preeemptive resentment.
