10 Reasons WWE Might Bring Back The World Heavyweight Championship

5. The Unification Was A One Off - A Reintroduction Angle Can Now Work

The unification angle that resulted in the demise of the World Heavyweight Title was a one off stunt. The buzz that WWE got from doing the angle has ran its course and been forgotten, so it's now time to generate a new buzz - the return of the World Heavyweight Title. Sadly for WWE, the original unification angle was actually a bit of a disaster. Fans were disinterested by Randy Orton and John Cena, who contested the ladder match to unite both WWE and World titles. Orton ended up winning that night, which did the unification angle absolutely no favours. It was also a very average match, with little in the way of major spots relating to the ladder. The World Heavyweight Title was then carried alongside the WWE Title for the next eight months, although officially, it was only one title referred to as the WWE World Heavyweight Title. After becoming Champion at SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar ended the two belts run. The Big Gold Belt was dropped and the WWE Title continued (albeit in a spruced up design). The removal of the big gold belt is the opportunity for the return angle. The unification didn't really do anything drastic for business, but perhaps a 'reintroduction' angle could be the sweetner in all of this. As for those of you who think it's too soon, think back to the unification angle of the WCW and WWF belts in December 2001. By September 2002, WWE were already back to using both belts!
