10 Reasons WWE Need To End The Brand Split (Again)
2. Royal Rumble Is Being Devalued
Hey, remember last year when Randy Orton won the Royal Rumble? Oh, you don't? Oh, right, because WWE treated it like a midcard afterthought and had it below the Universal title match and 'Taker's match.
This was a problem we saw in the original brand split: despite the promise of the WrestleMania main event, Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker, John Cena, Edge, Alberto Del Rio, and Sheamus had their title matches in the midcard, with Del Rio and Sheamus jerking the curtain of all things. Now with Orton and (presumably) Nakamura joining that pack, it's become evident that WWE have once again devalued the significance of the Royal Rumble. What should be one of the most prestigious victories in a WWE superstar's career is now just a token that they can give to anyone, because as long as there're two world titles, it doesn't really matter who wins the Rumble match. Whatever world title they value more (hint: whichever one's on RAW) will have the higher slot on WrestleMania.
An end to the brand split and the merging of the world titles would return the Royal Rumble to its former glory.
