10 Reasons WWE Royal Rumble 1992 Is Still The Best

7. Bobby Heenan Provides The Commentary Performance Of His Life

There is a long list of plaudits that can be written about Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan regarding his career in wrestling. Not only is he widely regarded as one of the best managers ever to set foot in the business but he was also equally as good at the commentary desk. Heenan himself was, alongside Mr Perfect, closely associated with Ric Flair at this time and so Bobby verbally willing The Nature Boy on to victory adds to the drama happening in the ring.

Quite simply there probably isn't another match in wrestling history where the commentary adds so much to the in ring action.

Heenan expresses absolute dismay when he sees Flair walk out as entrant number three and begins to praise any wrestler who helps The Nature Boy before putting them right back down again if they turn on him. One major highlight sees him apologise to Roddy Piper for calling his kilt a skirt before changing his mind a few short seconds later when Piper goes for Flair.

Heel commentary was certainly something that Heenan was a master at as his long career would attest to but the 1992 Royal Rumble is The Brain at the absolute height of his powers.
