10 Reasons WWE Should Never Return To Saudi Arabia
7. Logistical Nightmares
Leaks suggested November 1st would be the date of the next Saudi Arabia event. This would however mean a clash with SmackDown’s new Friday night slot. So what would WWE do? Cancel?
They’ve moved or cancelled shows before for less lucrative reasons. This year they’ve cancelled a string of SmackDown house shows in order to accommodate the Wildcard Rule of all things.
Still, it’s hard to see Fox delighting in WWE missing an episode of TV less than two months into their new deal. Could WWE present audiences with a pre-recorded SmackDown Live!?
What’s the alternative? A two hour Smackdown and a “WrestleMania level” pay-per-view Live on the same night?
With so many superstars overseas who would be left to appear on TV? They’d only have Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Aleister Black, Sami Zayn, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Asuka and every other woman on the roster....it’s starting to sound pretty good actually.
Now it seems the next event has been bombed to a Thursday. Still, it’ll be a tricky ongoing issue for WWE if they’re beholden to the scheduling whims of the Saudi General Sports Authority.
