10 Reasons WWE Should Never Return To Saudi Arabia
8. Poor Reception
Three shows in and none of them so far has had a positive critical reception. Subjectively, The Greatest Royal Rumble was fun, with a great Iron Man performance from Daniel Bryan. On the other hand, the 51 man Battle Royal was a mess.
Elsewhere neither the match layouts or the performances have stood out. Perhaps it’s the oppressive heat but the wrestlers seem to struggle to get out of first gear.
Looking back at TGRR, Crown Jewel or Super Showdown the few stand out moments aren’t dazzling displays of athletic ability. It’s the embarrassing botches that will live long in the memory.
We’re not getting great wrestling, nor do we get exciting storyline beats or unforgettable promos. Plus most matches are then redone better at other events giving us little reason as fans to tune in.
Booked and wrestled like house shows but promoted as, “As good or better than WrestleMania,” it’s hard to imagine a casual fan tuning into Super Showdown and then making a point to mark WrestleMania weekend on their calendar.
These shows are terrible. That this point only makes number eight on our list speaks volumes.
