There was a time when Dolph Ziggler was the golden boy for the older generation of WWE fans. He is brilliant in the ring, and while he maybe couldn't pull a great match out of a broom, he would certainly make it look strong by bumping around like a lunatic for it.

Then the downturn happened. Mr Ziggler's character stagnated, and it no longer mattered how good the matches were. Because compared to AJ Styles or Cesaro, he wasn't getting the job done anymore.

That was until the first episode of SmackDown Live where Dolph Ziggler won the right to face Dean Ambrose for the WWE Title at Summerslam. Suddenly, after years in the wilderness, the show-off was back on top. The next week he walked out and cut a promo that summed up all his frustrations. For the first time in forever, Dolph Ziggler is an interesting character again.

Who knows where this goes? Dolph might lose to Ambrose and drop back to where he was, or we might see his long-needed heel turn. Whatever goes down in the next few weeks, Ziggler has been given the chance to shine once again - something that would not have happened was he still plying his trade on Raw.
