3. Cody Fails On The Grandest Stage Of Them All
Turning our gaze back to WrestleMania, we must inevitably discuss arguably the most controversial call since McMahon told Earl Hebner to ring the bell in Montreal.
The decision for Roman Reigns to retain the belt at WrestleMania is one that has proven highly controversial. Some hate it, others think it's a sign that WWE are creating an epic, long-term story. To those who fall in the latter camp, all this writer can say is: your faith is enviable. Also, would you be interested in purchasing a nearby bridge?
How anyone has conviction in the WWE's ability to form a satisfying conclusion to the Bloodline at this point beggars belief. They bottled it with Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber and Cody at WrestleMania, and the longer this storyline drags on, the less likely it is they're going to stick the landing.
The history of wrestling is littered with examples of storylines that limped along to a flat conclusion, from the Miz/Daniel Bryan feud ending in a two-minute roll-up to The Sheik's five year winning streak ending by DQ in 1974. The Bloodline saga isn't quite at that level of wretchedness yet, but it may be by the time it ends.
