WWE has always done its best to freshen up its product with season premieres of Raw and SmackDown. Although sometimes they have reverted to tired methods, they nonetheless usually managed to shake things up.

However, with the pandemic's effects taking a toll on its product in 2020, WWE has had to dig deeper than before.

At first, WWE wasn't certain it could conduct business as usual, and the lack of crowds left the product feeling unpolished. Regardless, Vince McMahon & co. have refused to fold - even to a crisis. Instead, the restrictions have urged WWE to rethink its overall presentation.

In an earlier attempt to adapt, WWE produced cinematic matches. For The Undertaker and AJ Styles, the extra production did wonders, as The Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36 received praise and protected an aged 'Deadman.' After the Swamp Fight, though, the new presentation has lost some luster. Regardless, WWE has leaped away from its status quo by trying out different concepts.

Even when they swing and miss, WWE keeps trying out new ideas, such as having wrestlers in the crowd, piping in crowd reactions, and creating the Thunderdome. Whereas typical WWE criticisms have focused on lackluster creativity, in 2020, WWE has reached further to put together an entertaining product. Kudos are due to WWE for taking risks from both a creative and production standpoint, especially during uncertain times.
