10 Reasons WWE's Cruiserweight Division Has Fallen
6. Jack Gallagher Goes Heel
WWE fans took a liking to Jack Gallagher almost immediately during the Cruiserweight Classic.
Not only was he flashy in the ring, but he simply had a presence about him that was hard not to love. His colorful attire combined with his throwback in-ring style made him an instant fan favorite in the CWC, leading to fans petitioning for him to be brought in for Raw's Cruiserweight division soon after.
It took a little longer than expected, but Gallagher finally debuted on 205 Live at the end of 2016, and was positioned as one of the top babyfaces on the brand. In fact, he was the only Cruiserweight to compete in the 2017 Royal Rumble match before taking Neville to the limit in an exceptional title clash at the Fastlane pay-per-view.
Once he failed to clinch the championship, he floundered for the remainder of 2017 and transitioned into a flop of a feud with The Brian Kendrick. That then led to Gallagher going heel, an asinine decision considering how popular Gallagher still was with a portion of the audience.
Sure enough, the heel turn did nothing but kill any momentum he may have had left, and now he has never meant less.
