On paper, Neville vs. Austin Aries for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship was one of the most anticipated matches at WrestleMania 33. There is also little doubt they ended up having one of the best bouts of the entire night.

Despite that, the two were bumped to the WrestleMania Kickoff show days ahead of the event, sending fans into a frenzy.

Aries went on record at the time in saying that he didn't see it as a "demotion" but rather as a way to "elevate" the Kickoff show. While that very well might be true, WWE not having room for Neville vs. Aries on WrestleMania spoke volumes as to how highly (or not-so-highly) they thought of the division.

As if that wasn't bad enough, it was revealed a few months later that they wouldn't even be included on the U.S. WrestleMania 33 DVD release as a result of the event running much longer than it should have. This meant that Aries and Neville weren't receiving any royalties. It was almost as if their match never even happened.

Props to the two for delivering an awesome outing in spite of the circumstances, but they deserved better. This would be far from the last time a Cruiserweight title match would be relegated to the Kickoff.
