10 Reasons WWE's Product Is Suffering Right Now

8. Overall Repetition

If you watch one episode of WWE television, you really don't need to watch any others, because you've seen them all. Repetition is one of the company's biggest problems right now, and it affects many areas. First and foremost, look at how often you see the same matches time and time again. The Usos have faced some combination of The Wyatt Family or Goldust & Stardust 30 times on television and pay-per-view thus far in 2014. If you include the teams of Ryback & Curtis Axel or The New Age Outlaws, that number jumps up to 49. Again, that's only on television and pay-per-view. The beginning of October marks the 40th week of 2014, so you can see why that is a problem. It isn't only The Usos and their feuds, either. We're seeing that issue with the Divas division, as well as with the midcard titles. We're even seeing that with the main event scene. It isn't just the feuds that are repetitive. It's the type of feuds we're seeing. How many times is John Cena going to feud with someone that basically begs him to "embrace the hate", "become a monster", etc? How many times is Cena then going to appear to contemplate it internally before going with the same "I will never change" line? Again, you can skip episodes of Raw and Smackdown, and still not miss anything. It's all the same thing, and when that's the case, what motivation do we have to watch every week? Outside of "force of habit", there is no motivation, or reason, whatsoever.
