10 Reasons Why WWF Vs WCW Invasion Angle Failed

3. Major Storylines Were Rushed Too Quickly

It must have been very difficult for WWE to book two hours of Raw and Smackdown every week in addition to monthly PPVs at a time when they added nearly 30 performers to a roster that was already stacked. Remember that at WrestleMania 17, the best PPV in WWE history, they had WCW performers sitting in the crowd that they acknowledged. The storyline was ready to go at a time when WWE had peaked. Little did we know there was nowhere for them to go but down. The best situation for the Invasion would have been to slowly play it out. They rushed it way too quickly. There were times in 2001 when it seemed like WWE was going to relaunch the WCW brand with Shane McMahon in charge of the new company. There was even a Saturday night timeslot that was going to take place along with WCW branded house shows. It didn't end up happening, but it sounded like a good idea because if it happened like that they would have been able to take their time on the feud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVF8WFqYQHk Did they even consider long term planning? What they should have done is figured out a way to settle this rivalry at WrestleMania 18. It was fine to start things in June/July like they did, but why end it by November? It was way too soon. This could have been the biggest money making angle in the history of wrestling. Instead it was settled within five months.
