10 Reasons You Need To Start Watching Impact Again

3. Less Terrible Humor

So long Chandler Park, we barely knew ye. Joseph Park’s cousin was portrayed by the talented Ethan Page but he was one of the least necessary roster additions in recent memory. Thankfully, he’s disappeared with no word as to his whereabouts. No one seems to be searching for him, which is just fine. He was another unfunny cornball character that was holding Impact back from being taken seriously.

Before Park, fans were treated to frequent, super hammy, cheesy, Jeremy Borash inspired videos. While some were good for a laugh, they were certainly an acquired taste. Many fell flat on their face due to their exaggerated level of overacting. We also inexplicably saw Hornswoggle (an act that even Vince McMahon grew tired of) join the promotion in 2017 to feud with Rockstar Spud in one of the lamest feuds the promotion has ever seen. No one will ever accuse Jeff Jarrett of being a natural comedian.

As of late, the promotion has ditched much of their comedy fodder and taken a more serious approach. There have still been a couple of goofy backstage segments but they aren’t holding the show down anymore. You may not laugh every time Impact tries to be cute or clever, but it’s no longer likely to make you feel embarrassed to watch.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
