10 Reasons You Should Be Watching WWE Mixed Match Challenge
9. Beth Phoenix
The roster of commentators WWE currently has available is a rather stale bunch. Michael Cole has been the hegemonic voice of the company for decades and, while there are entertaining voices on the team, it still feels very similar to what we have heard for a very long time. Over on Mixed Match Challenge, though, there's Beth Phoenix.
It's fair to say that the former four-time champion is not the most naturally gifted announcer in the world. She's often slightly clunky and many of her interjections add little to the conversation, but she is a refreshingly different voice to hear calling matches in WWE and a massive improvement over Lita's work alongside JR during the Mae Young Classic last year.
Given the prominence of women in the modern WWE landscape, it makes sense for the company to put a female voice behind the announce table. Renee Young is a popular choice, but has been vocal about the fact she doesn't rate her previous work at the desk. With Young out of the picture, WWE could do far worse than Phoenix, who is developing into a fun voice, with a different take on what is happening in the ring.
