10 Reasons You Should Be Watching WWE Mixed Match Challenge
3. Comedy
Comedy wrestling gets a bad rap and, as a result, it's not often seen in WWE outside of the New Day and their pancake-themed antics. The inherent strangeness of the Mixed Match Challenge format has proved to be a solid vessel for the sort of silliness that is tough to convey in the confines of Raw or SmackDown Live.
A prime example is the match between Naomi and Jimmy Uso and Goldust, teaming with Absolution member Mandy Rose. On paper, it's not exactly a thrilling contest, but the opening few minutes of comedy made it very entertaining, as Goldust and Mandy Rose tried to match the connection of their husband and wife opponents. Goldust has always had a flair for comedy, but he rarely has the opportunity to embrace or convey that during this later portion of his career.
Mixed Match Challenge provides the room for this sort of action to unfold given its complete separation from everything else that WWE releases. It's a world where starting a match with five minutes of comedy is an entertaining sideshow, rather than something that risks angering half the internet and could potentially torpedo a developing storyline.
