10 Reasons You Should Be Watching WWE Mixed Match Challenge

2. Break From Continuity

With five hours of main roster content across Raw and SmackDown Live every week, plus an hour of 205 Live and an hour of NXT, as well as pay-per-views twice a month, there's an awful lot of continuity to keep up with in WWE. It's a lot for even the most hardcore of fans to withstand, let alone the casual fans the company would hope to woo into spending their money on a WWE Network subscription.

The Mixed Match Challenge is a breath of fresh air due to its existence as completely separate from the main storylines and characters of WWE. It's only tangentially related to what's happening on the main shows and it's exciting to know that anything can take place, without it needing to reverberate on to main programming. Viewers can simply relax and enjoy the wrestling for what it is on the surface, knowing that it's all going to be over when the final bell rings.

The limitations of the enormous WWE machine are that there's no room for the performers to experiment and enjoy themselves, as everything they do has to impact future plans and booking logic. The Mixed Match Challenge universe allows more freedom and more entertainment value.
