Bron may be NXT's ying but Carmelo Hayes is definitely the yang.

Since bursting onto the scene and winning the NXT Breakout Tournament in 2021, Carmelo has been on an ascension of a lifetime. Winning the North American Championship so soon after his debut can often be a curse but Hayes went on to have the fourth longest reign of the red strapped belt, unifying the Cruiserweight title along the way. He later lost the gold to Solo Sikoa who had just been called up to Smackdown prior to their match.

From there, after an underwhelming program with Apollo Crews, Hayes eventually collided with the then NXT Champion Bron Breakker at Stand and Deliver which saw Melo claim the main prize and therefore becoming the top guy on Tuesday nights. Carmelo's reign since his April win has been full of highlights including victories over Baron Corbin and Ilja Dragunov as well as a showcase match on Raw with The Judgement Day's Finn Balor.

While Hayes' title reigns will be what he is remembered for when he is eventually called up to the main roster, Melo's match catalogue is as decorated as it gets in NXT. From his multiple North American title defences to his aforementioned war with Ilja Dragunov at The Great American Bash, the 29-year-old guarantees a banger every time he steps into the ring.

The NXT Champion's work can also be credited to his sidekick Trick Williams who has grew and grew since being partnered with Melo. Recently, Trick has been going more down the solo route but is showing what he learnt from Hayes each and every week and is slowly turning into a must-watch star.
