5. Asuka Goes Up

WWE's female tag division is a mess.

Sasha Banks and Bayley only get a pass because their relevancy makes them the best choices as champs, but there's not much else to cheer about. As the Kabuki Warriors, poor Asuka and Kairi Sane were part of the problem. They, like Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, The IIconics and other (thrown-together) squads, struggled.

It was blessing then when WWE pivoted due to Becky Lynch's pregnancy and decided that Asuka should burst back onto the singles scene. Her over-the-top performances as part of the Warriors helped her stand out from the crowd anyway, and there's just something endearing about Asuka's exaggerated mannerisms.

She's gone from playing part of a women's tag-team lost in the shuffle to winning Money In The Bank and then replacing Becky as Raw Women's Champion. That's an upgrade by any measurement, and it bodes well for the rest of Asuka's 2020.
