4. Not Giving Batista What He Wants
The WWE Universe has a weird relationship with 'Big Dave' Batista. When he's not around, The Animal is sorely missed, with fans around the world lamenting the hole left by his magnificent entrance music and weird belly-button tattoo. Despite this, Batista's returns and feuds have generally gone down like the proverbial led balloon, fantastic waving aside.
Big Dave returned to face Triple H at WrestleMania 35 in a match for ages. Actually, no, scrap that, it was a match that went on for ages, 24 minutes and 45 minutes to be exact. The longest match on the card, for the record. The No Holds Barred match was underwhelming and largely forgettable, meaning Batista's final WWE run is remembered for the infamous 'give me what I want' promo and little else.
Alas, no matter how passionately Batista cried, WWE was not willing to give him what he wanted. What he wanted, specifically, was to face Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match at the Showcase of the Immortals, a typically brutal way to end a blood feud. Vince McMahon wasn't so enthusiastic and he subsequently turned down The Animal's approach, citing the existence of a specific Cell pay-per-view as the reason.
Is Vince McMahon the only person who thinks an annual Hell in a Cell specific pay-per-view is a good idea? That's another story for another day, but the boss had no problem shooting down The Animal ahead of WrestleMania 35.
