10 Recent WWE Burials We Just Can't Explain

3. The IIconics

Peyton Royce and Billie Kay may still be riding career highs after winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 35, but have the apparent strops thrown by Bayley and Sasha Banks as result of broken promises made to them already proven more than justified?

Royce and Kay have lots going for them as a unit, which, in a limited division is perhaps argument alone for them having the gold. Worries about the credibilities of the belts going forward can now officially begin following the Superstar Shakeup SmackDown Live that saw The IIconics pinned for the second time on television that week. A lone victory coming against on-the-nose jobbers the Brooklyn Belles on a post-WrestleMania appearance hit all the right comedic notes, but again, that's not what the new straps were allegedly for.

It's near-impossible for the pair to reach the in-ring standards of their contemporaries yet, but such a thing wouldn't remotely be a problem if they hadn't been booked to win the 'Show Of Shows' fatal fourway in the first place. As perennial loser heels that never actually needed to sell the loss, they were teflon. As supposed winners that seemingly can't buy a victory that counts, their chances of progressing in the role are completely without hope.
