10 Recent WWE Burials We Just Can't Explain

2. Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin's late-2018 burial emphasises WWE's internal schizophrenia, not least because as of the post-WrestleMania editions of Monday Night Raw, he's surely likely to receive a shot at Seth Rollins' Universal Title at some point. His 2017 burial at the hands of John Cena was cruel, his 2018 one from everybody merely unusual, yet he enters WWE's true 2019 in extremely good health.

Defeating Kurt Angle in his last ever match (and against the Olympian's wishes) in April, Corbin was used as the on-screen reason for Raw's IRL ratings collapse. It was some b*llocking his character got for it as well - 'The Architect' threw Baron's every move under the bus before he escaped in time to take a kicking from Braun Strowman and just about every other red brand babyface at the final pay-per-view of the year.

He's since turned a litany of negatives into one giant positive. Forcing announcers to talk him up like he's The Rock and Steve Austin combined, Corbin strolls into towns with the arrogance of an indestructible megastar, immune to microphone and in-ring batterings in the good name of the Banter Era he helped usher in.
