10 Recent WWE Burials We Just Can't Explain

4. Bayley (And Sasha Banks)

Bayley's post-WrestleMania Raw burial came in the shadow of the title she adored going in the same direction, but the absence of her former Tag Team Championship partner Sasha Banks seemed as responsible for a vicious squash loss to Alexa Bliss. Indeed, just 24 hours after The IIconics (more on them later) had shockingly dethroned The Boss & Hug Connection on the 'Show Of Shows', 'The Hugger' fell victim to WrestleMania's host as rumours swirled of her and Banks' deep dissatisfaction with the organisation.

If this reads more like a traditional burial outlined in the introduction to this article, it's because that match was, but it was the last thing the former NXT hero needed after so many years of disrespect from a main roster creative team that hasn't ever managed to flesh out what made her character such a remarkable throwback on the developmental brand.

A genuine, earnestly adored babyface is like gold dust in modern wrestling, and WWE had it in 'The Hugger'. Her run since tearfully exiting NXT has been insulting to the very process that created her, and it speaks to the strength of her relationship with the crowd that any optimism exists since her SmackDown Live move. A run against fellow Horsewomen Becky Lynch may be her last great hope. Banks being gone completely as per her frosty relationship with the company is perhaps the only thing affording her respite.
