To be fair, no one expected The Dudley Boyz and The New Day to deliver five-star mat classics when their feud first started in the summer of 2015. However, considering how hot both acts were at the time, their program really should have been a turning point for WWE's depleted tag team division and not another run-of-the-mill rivalry.

First and foremost, WWE did them no favors by rushing into their first-ever outing on the 31 August edition of Raw. It was an enjoyable one, but not exactly what fans were hoping for from the two tandems. That said, it was believed they were holding out for their WWE Tag Team Championship clash at Night of Champions the following month.

Well, that was a fairly basic bout as well, except with a marred finish due to Xavier Woods intentionally getting New Day disqualified. Their rematch at the Madison Square Garden live special shortly thereafter was no different, and then their final encounter (which was average at best) at Hell in a Cell essentially solidified The Dudley Boyz as glorified enhancement talent.
