10 Red Hot WWE Romances That Were Dropped Way Too Soon

2. Stacy Keibler & Randy Orton

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEthbpwZRYU In the autumn of 2004 WWE had the great idea of turning Randy Orton babyface. Orton was starting to hear cheers from a certain section of the audience and WWE, in their infinite wisdom, thought that that meant that he would be a great babyface. Wrong. Orton was still way too smug and unlikeable at this point in his career to succeed as a babyface. And what do you know, it failed. His first World Heavyweight Championship reign lasted a month as he was dethroned by Triple H. A series of limp matches between the two followed. WWE knew they had to turn Orton back and the plans were set in motion. It was odd, then, that Orton became involved in an on-screen relationship with the eternally likeable Stacy Keibler. The two were shown flirting and kissing backstage in an angle that lasted a few weeks. Had WWE decided against the Orton heel turn and figured that pairing him with fan favourite Keibler was the way to make him an effective good guy? Well, not quite. Orton RKO'd Stacy during an in-ring segment which, as you might have guessed, ended the relationship. Orton delivered the RKO to send a message to The Undertaker, whom he would face at WrestleMania 21. The point was that Orton would stop at nothing and hurt anyone to prove to 'Taker that he was ready for their big match. Stacy and Randy had had another brief somewhat romance in 2002 when she (who was then Vince's on-screen secretary) kept flirting with Orton, drawing the ire of Mr. McMahon.
