10 Regrets CM Punk Must Be Harbouring

9. Taking Part in The New Nexus

CM Punk played a part in several stellar storylines over the course of his career. Whether it was the Summer of Punk or the Straight Edge Society, Punk was involved in countless awesome angles that will not be soon forgotten. However, there was also a few storylines here and there that Punk might not exactly be proud of. The New Nexus was one of them. The Nexus was one of the most refreshing and compelling things in years at the time WWE did it in 2010, but it quickly died a death once John Cena beat the red-hot faction at SummerSlam. The Nexus found some success after that, but it was quite clear that they were never the same. Even after Wade Barrett was taken out by Cena at December's TLC pay-per-view, WWE opted to keep the group going for one reason or another. Cue CM Punk. On the December 27 Raw, Punk was revealed to be the newly appointed leader of The Nexus. Fans got excited at the idea of the faction being rejuvenated with Punk at the helm, but the exact opposite happened. Punk was already an awesome heel by this point and didn't need any backup. The Nexus, or The New Nexus as it became known as, was essentially worthless in that sense. They were taken out one-by-one at the hands (or feet to be specific) of Randy Orton on the road to WrestleMania and were rarely seen on WWE TV. They ultimately hindered Punk's momentum and it was a blessing in disguise when The Second City Saint disassociated himself with the faction during the Summer of Punk. It wasn't Punk's fault that The New Nexus flopped, but you have to assume that he regrets ever agreeing to take part in it.
