As soon as news broke that CM Punk left WWE, rumors ran rampant among fans that it was all a work. Once it quickly became known that it was anything but, fans started speculating as to when we could expect Punk back in the company. Even Punk himself probably wasn't sure when he'd be back, but he had to know that the episode of Raw in Chicago on March 3 would be a possibility. If there was ever an opportune moment to make a comeback, it would have been then. The fans knew it, WWE knew it and most of all, Punk knew it. It was reported shortly before Raw in Chicago that it was looking more and more likely that Punk was due back. Had The Voice of the Voiceless finally come to his senses, put his pettiness aside and re-signed with the company? Fans were buzzing with excitement going into that night's Raw and once "Cult of Personality" went off in Chicago, the Allstate Arena came unglued. The drawn out reaction for The Second City Saint was thunderous, but those massive cheers soon turned to jeers when Paul Heyman came out instead. Heyman explained Punk's absence very briefly before moving on to other matters. There were several chants for Punk throughout the rest of the night, but it was clear by that point that he wasn't going to be back for a long, long time.
