6. Never Facing Stone Cold Steve Austin

When the Summer of Punk began in 2011, it was obvious almost immediately who CM Punk was channeling: Stone Cold Steve Austin. From the verbal tirades to rebelling against authority to being the voice of the people, the similarities between Punk and Stone Cold from the Attitude Era were simply too strong to deny. Heck, Punk even won a Stone Cold t-shirt while cutting his unforgettable "pipebomb" promo that historic June night in Las Vegas. Logically, fans began speculating that Austin would return to the ring to face Punk at some point. Austin has made no bones about wanting to face The Voice of the Voiceless, but as time progressed, the chances of that dream bout actually coming to fruition slimmed. Punk and Austin have teased facing each other in the past, most notably during their sit-down interview with Jim Ross to promote the WWE '13 video game. Ultimately, though, it led nowhere and was never brought up again. Stone Cold has yet to rule out the possibility of never wrestling again and just recently entertained the idea in an
interview of having one last match in his home state of Texas at WrestleMania 32. This came only months after Punk abruptly departure from WWE, meaning that if Stone Cold were to ever compete again, it would more than likely not be against Punk. WWE should have pulled the trigger on the match when they had the chance.
