One of the most popular Superstars in WWE history, being brash and honest, abruptly leaving the company. CM Punk and The Ultimate Warrior had more in common than you might think. That said, it comes as no surprise that Punk has always idolized Warrior and his ideals. He was the first one to congratulate Warrior on his WWE Hall of Fame induction in January, writing on Twitter, "Ultimate Warrior in the Hall of Fame. Overdue. Randy Savage next please." There's also an extra on Punk's critically acclaimed 2012 DVD where he briefly discusses an instance where Warrior "direct messaged" him on Twitter the day before WrestleMania 28 and how much it meant to him. Punk stated in several interviews prior to his departure that he wished to induct Warrior in the Hall of Fame, despite never having met him before. Of course, there was no chance of it happening once Punk left the company, but he more than likely wouldn't have been granted the honor anyway. Nevertheless, in leaving WWE so abruptly, The Second City Saint cost himself any opportunity to meet Warrior in person. Warrior made the rounds to everyone from up-and-coming athletes to old flames over WrestleMania 30 weekend. One has to assume that Punk would've been among them given their mutual respect for one another. If there was ever one person who was most regretful over never getting to meet Warrior before he shockingly passed on April 8, it would be Punk.
