10 Regrettable Wrestling Revamps
6. Barry Darsow - Repo Man
To go from one of the longest reigning tag team champions in WWF history to one of the worst gimmicks in history is quite the downgrade; however, for Barry Darsow, that’s exactly what happened in 1991.
Having had a solid career up to that point, as Krusher Khruschev in NWA and Demolition Smash in WWF, it was quite the U-turn when he began repossessing cars and brandishing a tow rope as The Repo Man. However, the concept was apparently the idea of Darsow himself, who had actually worked as a legit repo man prior to entering the wrestling business. Talk about loading the gun that kills you...
Making his historic TV debut against the formidable assault of Reno Riggins on Superstars, Repo Man got off to a winning start. Remarkably, he would go unpinned on TV for four months and have quite a successful 1992; however, he did come up short each time he stepped on the big stage, with his most prolific loss coming to Crush at SummerSlam ‘92.
Despite being an experienced repo man by trade, Darsow couldn’t steal himself a victory by '93 and spent the majority of the year looking at the ceiling lights. He would make a memorable return to the WWF in 2001 as part of the Gimmick Battle Royal... where he was first out, eliminated in seconds by Michael “P.S”. Hayes.
