10 Returning WWE Icons That Couldn't Live Up To Their Legend

10. "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka (1989)

Snuka was already 42 years old when he disappeared from WWE in July 1985, at which time he began a three-and-a-half year run of working for New Japan Pro Wrestling and Verne Gagne's AWA. By the time Snuka re-emerged in Titan around the time of WrestleMania 5, Snuka was 45, and much of the prior generation (Don Muraco, Sgt. Slaughter, The Iron Sheik, among many others) had already been drummed out. Snuka maintained some fleeting popularity from his days of diving off of steel cages and warring furiously with Rowdy Roddy Piper. However, he didn't quite fit into the increasingly-technicolor WWE, even with his rather vivid personality. The Snuka that thrilled at Madison Square Garden was treated as an afterthought throughout the cross-country TV taping circuit, and he primarily put over younger talent.
