10 Ridiculous Early Ring Names For Famous Wrestlers

4. Kane Was The Christmas Creature

Kane is a man that is no stranger to ridiculous things. He has perhaps the most convoluted backstory in the history of the business, he’s been in many, many terrible storylines, he played a dentist, played a fake Diesel and was also a Christmas Creature.

In a small promotion called CSWA, Kane was originally Angus King, which sounds like a delicious restaurant. Over in the USWA, he played Unabomb (who doesn’t love a domestic terrorist gimmick?) as well as Doomsday (who doesn’t love a Superman villain gimmick?) before morphing into a man that didn’t seem to appreciate the holidays.

The Christmas Creature was likely the least intimidating seven foot monster ever seen in the wrestling industry (well...Creature and Oz could perhaps argue it out). Dressed in green with candy-stripped boots and sleeves, he looked more laughable and cuddly than terrifying. Perhaps lucky for him the act didn’t last long (seeing a Christmas Creature in July probably wouldn’t get over so well).

Though he probably shouldn’t feel too bad about it, because is an evil dentist or fake trucker really that much better?

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
