10. Royal Rumble 1999 - Mankind vs The Rock - I Quit Match For The WWF Championship

As part of the corporation storyline that ran throughout most of '98 and '99, The Rock and Mankind had started feuding over the WWF Championship because the McMahons had decided to back the Rock instead of Mankind. On the first Raw Is War of 1999, Mankind won the title after interference from Steve Austin and D-Generation X. Rock had begun to beg for a rematch offering to take up any stipulation of Mankind's choice, Mankind settled on an I Quit Match at the Royal Rumble. The match was going fine, until The Rock brought out a pair of handcuffs and restrained Mankind, making him pretty much unable to wrestle. Rock then proceeded to hit him countless times with a chair until he fell unconscious, and then Mankind 'quit'. Audio from a promo on Sunday Night Heat played with Mankind saying the word 'quit' three times, but regardless of this obvious cheat, The Rock won the match and the belt. The finish was messy, complicated and probably would have been better off with The Rock just winning clean over Mankind. This would have built up The Rock as a more legitimate champion when he would go on to face Steve Austin, and would have led to a far more satisfying match at the Royal Rumble.
