10 Ridiculous WWE Urban Legends You Need To Stop Believing

2. Lex Luger€™s Bragging Cost Him The WWE Championship

In the months leading up to WrestleMania 10, Leg Luger seemed to be the perfect candidate for the WWE Championship. He had the look, the fans loved him, and he could handle himself in the ring. Without Hulk Hogan around, Vince was looking for a new face of the company and everyone thought Luger was the chosen one. As history has shown, that was not the case at all. Luger would go on to beat Yokozuna, but not get the pinfall that would have made him WWE champion. Instead, that honor went to Bret Hart who defeated Yokozuna in the main event. Why Bret and not Luger? For years the legend behind the odd booking decision was that Luger had gone to a bar the night before WrestleMania and bragged to everyone there that he was booked to win the title. Apparently Vince heard about this and decided to punish Luger by dropping the belt on Bret instead. As it turns out, none of that is true. In fact, Luger would go on to explain in interviews that he knew months in advance that he wasn€™t going to win the title. He wasn€™t even at a bar; instead he was at a friend€™s house at the time. It sounds like the Lex Express had been derailed long before anyone had even realized it.
