10 Saddest Ends To Legendary WWE Careers

3. Lita

Lita Cryme Tyme
WWE Network

Sure, Lita did return to the company six years on from her retirement match at Survivor Series 2006, but it needs to be highlighted just how upsetting and unnecessary her original exit from WWE was. She was legitimately despised by the live crowds back then after WWE leaned right into her real-life affair with Edge the year before, and she was pelted with dreadful abuse throughout this match.

The anti-diva went out on her back, as most Superstars do, but the worst was still to come. Always a picture of rational thinking, WWE sent out Cryme Tyme to sell Lita's 'possessions' at ringside in a ridiculously distasteful 'Ho Sale' after Mickie James had taken the Women's Championship.

Lita herself has shared the fact that she was not okay with this being the last image of her in the company she'd put so much of her life into, and tried to get the angle changed to no avail. She's now remembered as a pioneer of women's wrestling, welcomed back with open arms by WWE to promote the evolution of the division away from the very same rubbish they threw at Lita on her way out a decade earlier.
