10 Saddest Ends To Legendary WWE Careers

2. Mickie James

Speaking of Mickie James, Lita's conqueror has suffered her own disappointing fall from grace since returning to the 'E four years ago. In that time, she's done next to nothing of note; in the past two years, she's wrestled nine times, the last of those being a defeat by Zelina Vega last September.

She returned looking as good - if not better - than she did when she left in 2010, and should have been an exciting part of the new-look women's division. Like Natalya or Beth Phoenix, Mickie carries an air of respect with her due to her vast experience but is still talented enough to take the current crop to great matches.

Instead, she has spent the last couple of years in pointless tags or random appearances with no stakes or consequences. While Lita was the victim of a sharp, undeniable closing moment, WWE has dragged Mickie James along since she made a well-received comeback. There's still time for her to get her final dance, and she's definitely still got one last classic in her, but it remains to be seen whether WWE will get on board.
