It was going to be a best of three series between two of the biggest stars in WWE history, but instead it was one of the funniest matches ever.

In the midst of the Hulk Hogan Vs. Shawn Michaels feud in 2005, a significant point of contention arose about the potential for a best-of-three series between the two legends. While WWE management and fans were eager to see this rivalry extended, Hogan was reluctant to participate in more than one match.

Hogan's resistance was primarily rooted in his desire to preserve his image and legacy as the wrestling industry's top icon. Translation: that doesn't work for me brother. He was concerned that engaging in multiple matches with Michaels might dilute his aura and result in a loss that could tarnish his legendary status. Hogan's reluctance to put HBK over in the series stopped things before they'd started. Surprised?

Ultimately, this disagreement contributed to the real-life tension between the two, as it highlighted their differing perspectives on the storyline's direction. Despite the initial plans for a series, the feud was resolved with just one match at SummerSlam, where Hogan emerged victorious after the most comical overselling in WWE history from Michaels.

HBK was meant to get at least one win against Hogan, but was left ruing the unfinished story as Hulk rode off into the sunset with another victory against a wrestler he should have lay down for.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
