10 Saddest Times Wrestlers Couldn't Finish The Story
8. Hollywood Hogan
Back to Hogan, only this time he's the one who didn't finish the story.
To cut a long story short, Jeff Jarrett lay down for Hulk Hogan and Vince Russo threw him the belt. The Hulkster cut a promo about it being Russo's fault that World Championship Wrestling was declining, then left the area as WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
Hogan claimed that the entire incident was a collaborative effort between himself, Russo, and other WCW officials, designed to generate buzz and get people talking about wrasslin'. Eric Bischoff said in his book, Controversy Creates Ca$h, that he rode in a limo out of the arena with Hogan and they toasted the success of the angle... right up until Russo made his way to the ring and changed the plans.
He tore into Hulkamania and promised the former New World Order leader would never appear on television again. The night ended with Booker T winning a now vacant WCW title, with no way for the Hulkster's storyline to be recovered. Hogan sued Russo but it was thrown out, meanwhile Vince claimed Hulk refused to lose to Jarrett and that's where it all came from. The Hulkster even blamed Turner executive Brad Seigel is his autobiography, Hollywood Hulk Hogan, claiming the network had wanted him gone for a long time.
When red and yellow Hulk Hogan debuted in WCW it changed the game, especially when he turned heel and went black and white. This controversy marked his last appearance for the company and he left with a whimper.
