10 Saddest Times Wrestlers Couldn't Finish The Story
7. Shinsuke Nakamura
The feud between Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles in 2018 had the potential to be an instant classic, given the caliber of both wrestlers and their history of delivering outstanding matches in other promotions. Unfortunately, that's not how the world works...
Going into the Royal Rumble in 2018, everybody thought Nakamura was going to win. Then he did! WWE had given fans exactly what they wanted; surely he'd finish the story and become WWE Champion at WrestleMania 34?
Nope. He lost to Styles in a dull match, then turned heel by kicking the champion between the AJs. So, he was going to win at the next pay-per-view, right? Well, he didn't lose. After a low blow fest at Backlash, the match was a draw and this disappointing feud continued to Money in the Bank. Even with a Last Man Standing stipulation, the King of Strong Style couldn't do it.
The final match was the best of the three, but when Nakamura punched his ticket to 'Mania in January, everybody thought he'd win the gold. It was a real missed opportunity; Shinsuke's never finished the story and as time goes on, it looks like he never will.
