10 Secret AEW Storyline Details Hiding In Plain Sight
1. MJF: Not Funny, He's A Piece Of Sh*t
On this week's Dynamite, a quintessentially AEW video package aired.
The level of detail was tremendous, the sheer heel gumption was outrageous, and the comedy never detracted from the weight of the story because it was a one-off. It was a convoluted means of getting MJF over as a jackass, but it was also tremendously inspired. It wasn't just a way of presenting Wardlow as the villain of the storyline in a location-specific beat, because think of the subjects covered on Dark Side of the Ring. Some are monstrous; others are among the most sympathetic figures imaginable, and that MJF would conflate himself with the latter was such a subtly wicked black comedy wrinkle to the bit.
In another phenomenal, subtle wrinkle, the package actually answered a loud and obnoxious AEW criticism in that it acted as a literal video package recap - an exposition dump that certain fans think that "casual" fans require in order to grasp the beats of a pro wrestling storyline.
This doubled as a sideways dig aimed at the wilfully thick vermin who pollute the discourse.
