10 Seriously Overlooked WWE SummerSlam Matches

1. Chris Benoit Vs. Chris Jericho (2000)

It's unlikely that WWE themselves would ever herald this SummerSlam 2000 match as a genuine classic. Chris Benoit will (understandably) be omitted from any official lists looking at the best the annual pay-per-view has had to offer, but he belongs in any article examining the show's greatest ever wrestling matches.

Coming over from WCW earlier that year, Benoit instantly clicked when in the ring against guys like Jericho. WWF fans who had missed the work of both men elsewhere were the true winners here, and that rang true come SummerSlam. Continuing their ongoing feud, Jericho and Benoit were slated for a '2-Out-Of-3-Falls' Match.

Right before three tag-teams made history by presenting the first ever TLC Match, Benoit and Jericho wrestled solidly. Making things even more interesting, the duo had to follow Shane McMahon's eye-catching bump from the top of the entrance set during a match with Steve Blackman.

Due to these factors, Jericho vs. Benoit has been misplaced in the minds of many. Set that right by checking the match out on the WWE Network as soon as possible, it's sorely overlooked.
