10 Most Shocking Allegations Made Against Vince McMahon

6. Montreal Screwjob Was A Work

17 years later, November 9th 1997 remains one of wrestling€™s most controversial days. It was on this night that Bret Hart was the victim of a €˜shoot screwjob€™ to forcibly get the WWE Championship off him before departing for WCW. He had no knowledge of Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels€™ plan to tell the world that he submitted to the Sharpshooter. Hart patched things up with Vince and WWE in 2010 in order to be inducted in to the Hall of Fame, but this night in Montreal will never be forgotten. We all love a conspiracy theory and were too many coincidences. Bret had creative control in his contract and could have legally sued WWE. McMahon had known in advance that Hart was leaving, yet decided to keep the belt on him. If he was so scared of a repeat of Alundra Blayze binning her Women€™s Championship on WCW, no way would he have let Hart keep it until his final day. Also, did Bret not find it odd that McMahon was at ringside for the match? If he wasn€™t commentating, he had no reason to be there. Finally, it€™s rare for McMahon to give backstage access to film and television crews. So why was Bret Hart allowed to bring his €˜Wrestling with Shadows€™ crew to this show? It€™s a bit inconsistent. Furthermore, the Hart and McMahon families are old school and might have relished the idea of working the wrestling world. If they did, it€™s the greatest act ever performed.
