10 Most Shocking Allegations Made Against Vince McMahon

5. McMahon Went Against His Dying Father€™s Wishes

In May 1984, Vince Snr died of cancer. A traditionalist, he gladly took part in the gentlemen€™s agreement that existed amongst wrestling territories. Apart from cross-promotional circumstances, everyone stayed out of each other€™s territories €“ they all had their own portion of America and were happy. The story says that his son promised that he wouldn€™t proceed with national expansion and would honour the agreement. However, upon purchasing the WWF off his dad, Vince poached other regions€™ talent like Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff. He began promoting shows in these territories and, one by one, they went out of business. His financial might had ensured that WWF were the country€™s first national promotion, with several promoters wanting to murder McMahon. Vince, as proven by his current empire, was right to do this. His forward thinking nature overcame the archaic territorial system €“ which someone else would€™ve eventually done. Whilst seemingly going against his dying father€™s wishes is in bad taste, Vince revolutionised the industry and became very rich.
