10 Shocking Heel Turns That Rocked WWE

5. Bret Hart Shows No Remorse At WrestleMania 13

This entry marks the only 'double turn' on this list, but oh what a wonderfully-orchestrated moment it was. Still ostensibly a heel, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin had nonetheless managed to catch fire with the changing WWF audience. People respected his ass-kicking toughness, and had started to turn their backs on the age-old wholesome virtues of Bret 'Hitman' Hart. This caused a schism in the presentation of both men, who now found themselves receiving different reactions from fans than they were supposed to. An awesome 'Submission Match' at WrestleMania 13 sorted everything out, but did cause one of the promotion's top babyfaces to unthinkably turn heel for good. After Austin passed out in a pool of his own blood, Hart wouldn't stop battering him. Even in victory, fans were furious at the lack of sportsmanship from the Canadian, who instantly become hated. He had been hearing boos for a while, but this tipped things over the edge. Out of nowhere, Austin became an anti-hero, whilst the previously-cherished Hitman turned rogue. His WWF career was never the same again.
