10 Shocking Heel Turns That Rocked WWE

4. Shawn Michaels Puts Marty Jannetty Through Barber Shop Window

Having been a tag-team wrestler for years, Shawn Michaels felt it was time to try and make a splash on his own merits. Right at the end of 1991, he was booked to callously turn on Marty Jannetty, the man who had been his partner in The Rockers for a long time. It was a shocking moment, one punctuated by the sound of smashing glass. According to Michaels, Jannetty was resistant to the idea of the split, but the 'Heart Break Kid' wanted to carve his own path. During a Brutus Beefcake-led 'Barber Shop' skit, Michaels hit Marty with some Sweet Chin Music. From there, he grabbed his former partner by the hair and hurled him through the set window in chilling fashion. The entire thing looked extremely cool, and is exactly the kind of moment that would probably be cheered nowadays. Back in '91 however, fans were stunned at Shawn's actions. Meanwhile, teenage girls wept at the idea of The Rockers being no more. All of a sudden, Shawn Michaels was hot property.
